TWO men, alleged to be linked to the notorious balaclava gang, have made a brief appearance at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court in connection with housebreakings in Hilton.

Senzo Mchunu (18) and Mvikelwa Bongani Mngadi (32) are facing two charges of housebreaking from homes in Hilton.

It is alleged that on the night of May 11, they broke a window of a house in Summit Road and took a sound system, and during the early hours of the morning on May 12, broke into a house in Quarry Road, smashing a glass door and managing to take cameras and a flat-screen TV.

They were remanded in custody until May 21.

Police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said they are still investigating whether the men are linked to other cases of house robbery.

He said a third suspect who was taken in for questioning is still in custody pending investigations.
