Men shoot at police patrol

2011-05-19 00:00

A 32-YEAR-OLD police constable escaped with a bruise to his forehead when he and his two colleagues were shot at by a group of men in the Cato Ridge area in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said Constable Sboniso Ntuli and two other officers were patrolling the area when they were attacked in Sihonqane Road at Othweba. He said police could not link the incident with yesterday’s local government elections.

The police noticed a group of men and, when they drove up, they were shot at. The police returned fire and the men ran away

Ntuli was grazed by a bullet and taken to hospital for treatment, Zwane said.
