Midlands farm couple attacked

2012-07-28 00:00

A FORT Nottingham farmer and his wife were attacked during a house robbery on their Baldin Jersey farm in the Midlands yesterday, police said.

Police spokesperson Captain Lolly Moodley said the alleged attack occurred in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Moodley said the couple awoke to hear their dogs barking.

Farmer Ian Watson (53) went to check.

“When he got to the kitchen, he noticed the window open.

“He then took a torch and opened the door and three unknown males forced him back into the house.”

The suspects assaulted him and demanded cash. The farmhouse was ransacked and the suspects made off with firearms and cellphones. The farmer sustained injuries to his head and face.

A case of house robbery has been opened at Nottingham Road police station and is under investigation. Moodley said no arrests had yet been made.
