Midlands murder trial in June

The Howick Magistrate’s Court has been informed that Shaw is to lodge a renewed bail application on December 11 based on new facts.

Shaw was refused bail by Howick magistrate, Nhlanhla Mpanza,on September 11.

He is charged with shooting dead his wife while the couple were alone at their home on the Emanzini New Forest Estate at Nottingham Road.

Shaw maintained during his bail hearing that he had been outside the house trying to get a cellphone signal when his wife was shot.

Police testified at the earlier bail hearing that the death was reported to them as a suicide, but maintained that circumstantial evidence pointed to the victim having been murdered.

According to the high court indictment served on him Shaw will face a charge of murder as well as one of unlawful possession of a firearm, a .32 revolver.
