Midlands rugby: teams selected

RECENT trials were held to select the Midlands District rugby teams for the interdistrict tournament to be held from May 19 to May 21 at Vryheid. This tournament serves as trials for the U13 sides to attend the junior Craven week and the B week during July. An U12 side is also selected to play in an interprovincial tournament held at Newcastle.

Pelham dominate with seven players in each of the U13A and B teams, and six in the U12 team selected. Merchiston also have six players in the U12 team.

There are five other districts in the KwaZulu-Natal region — Durban North, South Coast, Northern Coastals, Pinetown and Districts, and Lammergeyers (Northern KZN). The players in the U13A have been named from one to 15. In both the U13B and U12 teams there are 20 players named from one to 15, and five additional players.
