Mighty Men: dead biker's belongings stolen at accident scene

2010-04-20 00:00

A WALLET, tent and clothes were stolen from the scene where Jan Pieterse (54) died after he lost control of his motorbike after Sunday’s Mighty Men conference.

His Suzuki 1800cc hit a pothole 13 km from Greytown.

Police said Pieterse, a panel beater from Bethlehem, was thrown off the bike and hit his head on a rock.

Pieterse’s brother, Danie Jordaan, said Pieterse was “one of a kind”.

“He was always there for everybody, always full of smiles and always helping.

“He phoned me on Sunday morning to say he had given his life to God and wanted to come and tell his wife and kids,” said Jordaan. “That’s the last time we spoke.”

Pieterse leaves his wife, a son and two daughters.
