Military Tattoo to be held in PMB

PIETERMARITZBURG is playing host to the 2010 KwaZulu-Natal Military Tattoo. This exciting event is set for May 28 and 29 and will form part of the Royal Agricultural Show this year.

Staff Sergeant Johan Kruger of the SA National Defence Force said yesterday that the tattoo, an extravaganza of all things military, has been enjoyed by locals and visitors alike in various stadiums in and around Durban for many years.

He said the show, now called the KZN Military Tattoo, follows in the footsteps of the Durban Tattoo, which showcased the best of military culture and music available in KZN.

The Tattoo was not held for a number of years until in 2008 a decision was made to revive the family favourite.

“Highly successful military tattoos followed in 2008 and 2009. This year it was decided to deviate from the norm of only presenting the tattoo in Durbanby taking it to Pietermaritzburg,” said Kruger. “The aim of this year’s event is to celebrate the soildiers in KZN through the years by means of military music, culture and re-enactments.”

Kruger promised that this year’s event will be “a display of which every South African can be proud”.
