Miller stars in Coastals one-dayer

KZN Coastal drew their rain-affected SAA Provincial Challenge three-day match against Boland in Paarl, and won the 45-over clash by seven runs with opener David Miller hitting 95 at a strike rate of 94, including seven fours and four sixes.

And in the KZN Coastal Premier 45 series, there were big wins for Berea Rovers and Pinetown in Pool A, with a comprehensive victory for Chatsworth United. In Pool B, there were comfortable wins for Delta, Crusaders and Chatsworth Sporting.

Delta, who celebrate their 30th anniversary next year, are on top of the world as they also received a R100 000 sponsorship from Epic Foods’ brand Blossom Canola margarine.


Provincial Challenge: KZN Coastal vs Boland (Paarl) – Three-day: Boland 1st innings 181 (V Gobind 4-31, U Govender 3-50). KZN Coastal 1st inn 277/7 (M Pillay 82, G Fotheringham 65). Match drawn. Points: KZN 8.54; Boland 5.62.

One-day 45-over: KZN Coastal 240/6 (D Miller 95). Boland 233/9 (C Woods 2-30, U Govender 2-31). KZN Coastal won by 7 runs.

KZN Coastal Premier 45: Pool A — Berea Rovers 275/6(P. Hancock 51, B. Hector 44, R. Cheesman 32). Dbn Collegians 173 (D. Horsfall 4-31). Rovers won by 102 runs.

African Warriors 115 (K. Buckthorpe 4-16). Pinetown 116/3(B. Kruger 60*). Pinetown won by 7 wickets.

Dawnheights 56 (T. Pillay 3-10, T. Essack 3-9). Chatsworth United 60/5. United won by 5 wickets.

Pool B — Tertiary 101/9(D. Pengelly 3-8, N. Huwer 3-14). Crusaders 102/5. Saders won by 5 wickets.

Topham 196/7 (S. Naidoo 53, M. Patel 65, D. Reddy 3-39). Chatsworth Sporting 197/5 (J. Louw 36, R. Gobind 30, C. Bowes 30*). Sporting won by 5 wickets.

Amanzimtoti 140 (K. Chetty 4-35). Delta 141/4 (W. Lombard 64*, S. Simpson 42). Delta won by 6 wickets.
