2012-06-02 00:00

A 32-YEAR-OLD man was arrested yesterday in connection with the disappearance of police Constable Bongiwe Precious Zuma, whose body was found burnt beyond recognition at Baynesfield, near Pietermaritzburg, on Wednesday.

Zuma, who was attached to the Pietermaritzburg Tactical Response Team, was last seen on May 22 in the Imbali area, driving her VW Golf. The car was later found in the Mason’s Mill area. It was unlocked and the keys were found in the boot lock. Some of her belongings were found in the area.

Two men found in the CBD with cellphones belonging to Zuma were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property.

A third man was arrested at Baynesfield and is to be charged with Zuma’s murder. He is expected to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court soon. — WR.
