Mkhize: unwelcome visits leave KZN volatile

2012-11-15 00:00

KWAZULU-NATAL Premier Zweli Mkhize yesterday urged political parties in the province to desist from “highly provocative” actions, such as “unwelcome visits to private homes”.

In a statement, he said the provincial cabinet was concerned about the Democratic Alliance’s recent attempt to “inspect” President Jacob Zuma’s residence in Nkandla.

This was especially in the light of King Goodwill Zwelithini’s initiative to prevent the province from plunging back into political violence.

“In the midst of all these efforts, the last thing the province needs is insensitivity around unwelcome visits to private homes. That is highly provocative in the environment we are in and we urge all parties to desist from it,” said Mkhize.

“We have learnt from previous experience that long after the unwelcome visitors have come and gone, the political climate in the area remains volatile,” Mkhize added.
