Mkondeni RTI awarded Best Service in KZN

IT is official — Pietermaritzburg’s Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) station at Mkondeni offers the best service when compared to other components within other provincial government departments.

On Friday night, the station won the coveted gold award at the premier’s Service Excellence Awards held at the International Convention Centre in Durban.

Speaking to The Witness yesterday, elated chief provincial RTI inspector, Prajan Parmanand, said this was because of the hard work that everybody at the station puts in to ensure service to all customers.

“It simply means that we are the best in the province. We always thrive to provide the best service to our customers,” he said.

The awards, organised by the premier’s office and adjudicated by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, aim to promote good governance practice, while ensuring that provincial government departments deliver the best service to the public they serve.

In his keynote address during the awards ceremony, Premier S’bu Ndebele congratulated the winners, but said there is still room for improvement. “Remember that even when you are on the right track, you will be run over if you just sit there and do not move forward. You have to perpetually belong to the Achievers’ League.”
