Mnt Rise: crime blitz nets 37

A POLICE crime blitz called Operation Black Panther resulted in 37 arrests in the Mountain Rise area on Friday.

The operation, which started at 2 pm and ended at midnight, was a joint operation by various police agencies. Police officials conducted roadblocks and visited legal as well as illegal liquor outlets searching for criminals.

Police said the initiative aims to nab suspects on the police’s wanted list and clamp down on illegal liquor outlets operating in Mountain Rise.

The arrested people are suspects in various crimes and will appear in the Pietermaritzburg magistrate’s court today. Black Panther is set to be an ongoing operation to fight crime in Mountain Rise.
