Mob stoning: Murder probe launched

2012-08-28 00:00

POLICE are investigating a case of murder following the death of Nhlanhla Dlamini in KwaMadlala, Elandskop, on Saturday.

Angry community members stoned Dlamini to death after he had allegedly burnt down his mother’s three huts and assaulted his sister.

“No arrests have been made at this stage,” said police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane yesterday.

The Witness reported yesterday that the family had been granted a protection order against Dlamini “some time ago” after he had tried to stab his mother with a knife, and he was sent away.

The 46-year-old arrived at his home uninvited on Saturday during a tombstone unveiling ceremony and allegedly burnt down three huts and everything inside.

Zwane said a post-mortem would be conducted to determine the cause of Dlamini’s death.
