Model storms off Island in style

2010-01-23 00:00

CHRISTINA Storm, declared: “I’m not a f***ing mermaid; I wasn’t made for this place.”

Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina has only just started and already the bitching and back-stabbing is well under way — the main target being fashion designer Craig Jacobs.

When he, to quote actress, Sandi Schultz, “swanned in and started ordering everyone around” on the island, it set a lot of people’s backs up. Jacobs and Durban comedian Kaseran Pillay had been given the task of splitting the contestants into two teams and even Pillay was astonished by Jacobs’s behaviour. “He came with an attitude, I’m the boss here. No, no, no,you’re not the boss, you’re the team chooser,” he said.

Jacobs’s attitude and his failure to contribute to the well-being of his tribe, Chibudu, almost had him on an early flight home on Wednesday. Fortunately, fate stepped in, and it was one of the shows’ biggest contestants who fell when it came to the tribal council vote.

Garth Collins, better known as Granite from Gladiators, was left hobbling and in extreme pain when a reccie to see whether there were any fish to eat went wrong and the big guy twisted his ankle and cut his calf on some coral. The scrape became infected and left him in real pain.

Believing the injured strongman would prove a liability in immunity challenges, his tribe sent him packing.

The loss of Collins was the second blow for Chibudu, who lost the immunity challenge to rivals, Timbila, after model-turned-actress Christina Storm walked out, leaving her team-mates less than pleased.

As for Jacobs, well let’s just say he’d better start pulling his weight and praying that Chibudu win the next immunity challenge, or he may just find himself homeward bound.

• Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina is screened on M-Net and M-Net HD on Wednesday evenings at 7.30 pm.

THE producers of Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina don’t believe in making life easy for their celebrity contestants.

In the first episode, half the celebs did a gruelling three-hour hike across sand dunes in scorching heat, carrying heavy crates. When they reached the end of the dunes, Survivor host Nico Panagio told them they had to immediately vote for two people who would “no longer continue the journey with them”.
