More of riveting SA legal drama

2011-02-28 00:00

FANS of the South African drama series Sokhulu & Partners are in for a treat. The second season is set to start on March 3 at 8.30 pm on SABC1.

Sokhulu & Partners, which won South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) for best drama, best actress and best script in 2009, follows the lives of three lawyers — Mabutho (Melusi Yeni) and Zweli Sokhulu (Thami Africa) and their partner, Pamela Thusi (Linda Sokhulu) — who are determined to protect the rights of those they serve.

In the season opener, a young man, Litha Zwane, is accused of trafficking children across the South African border. He claims he was framed, but the evidence against him is overwhelming. Mabutho steps in to assist in his defence.

In addition to child trafficking the new series looks at xenophobia, female chieftaincy, celebrity HIV status revelations, religious possession of illegal substances and international child adoption.
