More wet and cold on the way

2012-09-06 00:00

AFTER a brief taste of warm and sunny spring weather, winter seems to have returned.

Get your warm jackets and raincoats ready as more rain and chily temperatures are expected to hit the province this week, says weather forecaster Wiseman Dlamini.

“We should expect more or less the same weather conditions until Saturday. Overcast and cloudy conditions and thunderstorms and rain should be expected,” he said.

He said severe thunderstorms and very cold weather could be experienced around the Drakensberg region, Underberg and Giant’s Castle, which would not go beyond maximum temperatures of 10°C today.

Heavy rains are expected in the North Coast, Durban and Margate areas from today.

“The rain will continue throughout [tomorrow] afternoon, but will stop around the evening.”

He said temperatures were expected to increase on Saturday and that the skies would be clearer.

“Drakensberg will experience temperatures above 12 °C, the Midlands will be above 17 °C and coastal areas will be around 19 °C and above,” Dlamini said.
