KWAZULU-NATAL’S most wanted suspect was arrested on Friday after seven years on the run.

A combined operation by provincial crime intelligence and the Durban dog unit led to the 43-year-old man’s arrest. The suspect was cornered at a house in Reservoir Hills, Durban.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said the suspect was wanted for a number of cases, ranging from house robbery and theft to fraud.

Zwane said the man committed most of these crimes in the Pietermaritzburg area.

“The police had been looking for the suspect since 2002,” he added.

He said the police were tipped off that the suspect was hiding in Resevoir Hills and headed to the place. He was handed over to the Townhill SAPS detectives for further investigation.

The man is expected to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court today on charges of house robbery, theft and fraud.
