Mother dies saving toddler

2012-09-25 00:00

A WOMAN saved her four-year-old daughter from being run over by a taxi yesterday, but was struck by the vehicle herself and died.

ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said the woman (31) and her daughter were walking in the Durban CBD when the child broke free from her mother’s grip and ran across the road.

“The mother then hurled herself into the road and saved her daughter from being struck by a passing minibus taxi. Unfortunately, the mother was struck by the taxi,” said Visser.

He said the woman sustained serious injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

“The four-year-old girl sustained minor injuries only in the form of scrapes and bruises.” publishes all comments posted on articles provided that they adhere to our Comments Policy.
