Mountain Rise:warning after major robbery

2012-10-24 00:00

THE police have sent out a warning to the public when keeping large amounts of cash on their premises.

This comes after a robbery in Mountain Rise where criminals made off with cash that was in excess of R1 million, and jewellery with the estimated value of R300 000.

“It is believed that the criminals waited for the occupants to leave their home and thereafter forced open the front door and helped themselves to the cash and jewellery from the bedroom cupboards,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant Joey Jeevan.

“We will have an influx of holidaymakers and tourists in our midst as well as the unscrupulous criminal elements that are set on making easy money,” said Jeevan.

She also warned against employing people without documentation as it proved dangerous to communities.
