Mr South Africa: Accounting student needs votes to remain in count

2013-03-18 00:00

PIETERMARITZBURG man Kiran James (22) has made it into the top 50 of the Mr South Africa 2013 nominees and needs votes to progress to the next round.

James, who is not only a hunk but brainy too, is currently studying towards an Accounting Science qualification at the University of SA (Unisa).

The aspiring Mr SA is also a model and has studied TV presenting after matric.

He is also training for the national bodybuilding show taking place this year.

He told The Witness that he spends most of his time at Virgin Active in Cascades shopping centre, buffing up for the show.

He said his parents were his number one fans.

“My parents are a huge support, even though they do not believe that modelling and TV presenting is quite sustainable for cash,” he said.

James said he was passionate about modelling and fitness competitions.

One of his favourite memories was of meeting former president Nelson Mandela when he was six years old, and he still remembers that day vividly.

“If I do become the new Mr SA, I will educate kids that taking drugs is not worth it, and if I don’t become the new Mr SA I will still educate kids that taking drugs is not worth it,” he told The Witness.

One of his other passions is working for underprivileged children. “Being in the Mr SA top 50 is such an achievement for me because in the previous round 87 guys got eliminated. So, I was happy that I was saved.”

To vote for James, SMS MRSA26 to 47439.
