BRIAN Zuma’s dream to some day record and release an album has finally become a reality.
His debut album Ncinci Bo! features a blend of 11 contemporary and traditional gospel songs.
Zuma started his career as a teacher, having studied teaching at Indumiso College of Education.
In 1986 he formed a band called Destiny with friends and they tried their luck on the popular Shell Road to Fame talent search show.
Although Destiny did not win, Zuma said they continued doing cover versions of popular artists.
In 1995 he volunteered as a disc jockey for Radio Maritzburg and in 2000 worked for the P4 FM (now Gagasi FM). He left the radio to become a manager in the mayor’s office in the Msunduzi Municipality in 2004, under former Mayor, Hloni Zondi. He is now the municipality’s communications and marketing manager.
Zuma said he is driven by the simple philosophy of doing the things that he loves, and loving the things he does.
The album is aired on KZN’s community and commercial radio stations and sold at Imvelo Beauty Square Salon.
