Municipality: considering Galway House

2013-05-27 00:00

MSUNDUZI Municipality is looking at Galway House in Galway Lane as a possible additional office block for the municipality.

Security at City Hall is also under scrutiny as Executive Committee member Bill Lambert described walking into the Exco offices over a weekend to catch up with work and finding two strangers sitting in one of the offices.

Municipal manager Mxolisi Nkosi said he was aw-are of the incident which was being investigated. He said the security of the entire City Hall was to be overhauled with improved measures put in place.

Galway House is being considered as a result of more space being needed with the more than 179 new posts recently advertised. There was also the matter of the municipality having a new human settlement component, an internal audit office, as well as the long-standing unhappiness over limited space for a council lounge.

Nkosi told the Executive Committee (Exco) last week that it was not just a matter of acquiring more space, but to see if space was being efficiently and effectively utilised.
