Murder: police ask for help in brutal rape case

2011-10-31 00:00

POLICE are looking for any information that might lead to the arrest of the killers of a 23-year-old woman, Zandile Khanyile, whose battered, semi-naked body was found in an open field near Azalea Cemetery on Saturday morning.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Joey Jeevan said Khanyile “had sustained several stab wounds to the body and her throat had been slit open”.

“We also believe that she was raped and later stabbed to death because the bottom half of her body was naked with her clothes torn apart.”

A case of murder is being investigated.

People with information that might lead to a successful arrest are asked to call the Plessislaer detective unit branch commander, Gops Govender, at 033 398 9752 or 082 779 7141 or Crime Stop at 086 001 0111.
