Murder trial: ‘Wear red to show support’

2009-06-04 00:00

THE trial arising from the murder of Jennifer Rae Hall is scheduled to start at the Durban High Court on Monday, June 8.

Twenty-two-year-old Hall was shot and killed during a hijacking in Amanzimtoti on June 14 last year.

Hall and her friends Amy Lansdell and Kate Flemming had been travelling to Scottsburgh for the annual sardine run when they stopped on the freeway in Amanzimtoti to change drivers.

They were then approached by a man, who fired shots at them, killing Hall and injuring Flemming. Lansdell was unhurt.

In a bid to organise some support for Flemming, Lansdell and the Hall family, a campaign called “Red for Jen” has been organised. The campaigners ask that school pupils and the general public wear red during the week of the trial, which starts on June 8.

The start of the trial coincides with the one-year anniversary of Hall’s killing.

“We are running the campaign for the week of the trial, and ask if everyone could wear red to show their support,” said a statement released by the “Red for Jen” campaign.
