2012-09-28 00:00

In an attempt to address the increasing lack of interest and steady declining numbers of pupils who take up mathematics annually, the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) has come up with a great idea.

SAICA will host its inaugural Maths Career Day — “My Digits, My Rhythm” competition.

The music talent show, which is targeted at pupils in grades 8 to 12, is scheduled to take place October 6 at Brentonwood High School in Durban.

The event will consist of a music talent show and maths quiz competitions which will take place concurrently. The winners of both will be announced at the event.

The idea is to encourage pupils in both urban and rural areas to choose core maths in order to have better career choices.

The initiative will also profile exciting career opportunities in chartered accountancy.

To stand a chance to win great prizes and other exciting goodies, pupils are encouraged to visit the and register for the “My Digits, My Rhythm” competition.
