N3 PotHole to be fixed by easter

2015-03-21 00:00

REPAIRS on the two-metre deep hole on Townhill near the Peter Brown off-ramp will “definitely” be completed by the Easter weekend.

South African National Road Agency Limited (Sanral) spokesperson Ravi Ronnie said lanes will be open within the next few days when they started filling the hole with asphalt.

He said the hole was last filled in December 2013 and a broken pipe had caused the portion of road to collapse.

“There is a steel Armco pipe that caved in resulting in the collapse of the pavement layers,” he said.

He added that “it is not a sinkhole” and was only 2,5 metres wide instead of three metres in width.

The Witness understands that the hole has already been filled with rocks and contractors will start building up the layers with asphalt on Monday morning.
