N3 closure: Traffic rerouted along Alan Paton

2010-12-04 00:00

THE N3 north-bound through the city will be closed all day today for construction work on the new Chota Motala Bridge while 19,4 metre concrete beams are put in place.

Traffic travelling towards Durban on the N3 will be able to pass underneath the bridge.

North-bound traffic will be diverted through the city along Alan Paton Avenue and will be able to rejoin the N3 via Hyslop Road and the Chatterton Road roundabout.

Trucks will be stacked at the Ohrtmann Bridge and escorted by the RTI at regular intervals via the Church Street off-ramp and back down the on-ramp to bypass the construction area.

Traffic will not be able to enter or leave the city across the Chota Motala bridge or get on to the N3 there. South-bound carriageway traffic taking the Chota Motala off-ramp will not be able to turn right to get to the city, but can turn left to get to Northdale and Greytown.
