N3 near Alan Paton to be closed

2013-07-30 00:00

THE northbound carriageway of the N3, near the entrance to Alan Paton Avenue, will be closed to traffic from 7 am to 5 pm on Saturday.

According to construction company Group Five, this is to facilitate the installation of a gantry at the point where the highway splits into Alan Paton Avenue and the carriageway continuing to Johannesburg.

Group Five engineer Keith Munsamy said light motor vehicles would be diverted through the city and rejoin the N3 after the Chatterton roundabout.

Munsamy said the detour would be clearly marked and flagmen would be placed at regular intervals. One lane on the N3 would be open in the construction area to allow heavy vehicles to pass.

The on-ramp to the northbound N3 at the newly built Chota Motala flyover will also be closed.
