NFP: Welcomes more IFP mayors, and ANC councillor

2011-03-29 00:00

AS the local government elections draw closer, National Freedom Party (NFP) seems to be getting more support in the northern KwaZulu-Natal as three IFP mayors defected to the newly formed party yesterday.

The mayors and the IFP Women’s Brigade national organiser Thembeka Mdletshe were introduced as the latest senior politicians to join the NFP, led by former IFP national chairperson Zanele Magwaza-Msibi.

The mayors are Bobby Ntombela of Hlabisa, Chris Swart of Mtubatuba and Bongekile Shabalala from Dannhauser. Magwaza-Msibi welcomed them to her party during a function held at St Olav Church Hall in Durban.

Also welcomed as a new member of the NFP was councillor Vusi Khoza who was an ANC councillor in eThekwini Municipality.

“This shows that the NFP does not get members from the IFP only, but from all political formations in the country as people want to see local government working for them instead of enriching selected corrupt individuals through the unscrupulous tender processes,” said Magwaza-Msibi.
