Narnia returns

2008-06-06 00:00

THIS week’s big opening is The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, showing at all three movie complexes in the city. CineCentre is also opening Definitely, Maybe and Deception. Nu Metro has The Forbidden Kingdom and The Eye joining their line-up, while Ster Kinekor has 21.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, originally scheduled to be released last year, is directed by Andrew Adamson for Disney, and is the second instalment of the Narnia franchise, following on 2005’s The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. The Pevensie siblings return to Narnia, where they are enlisted once again to help ward off an evil king and restore Prince Caspian, the rightful heir to the land’s throne. Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, William Moseley and Anna Popplewell star.

Marcel Langenegger directs Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams in Deception. An accountant (McGregor) gets caught up in a world of crime, fraud and sex when he is introduced to a mysterious sex club known as The List by his lawyer friend. But in this new world, he soon becomes the prime suspect in a woman’s disappearance and a multi-million dollar heist. Reviews have not been good.

Definitely, Maybe is a romcom with political overtones directed by Adam Brooks. Ryan Reynolds stars as a father, trying to deal with his 11-year-old daughter in the face of his impending divorce. He tells her about his youth when he was working on the Clinton campaign (1992 version) and the women he met and had relationships with.
