National brick maker now in PMB

2008-05-29 00:00

A national brick and clay manufacturer has launched its KZN midlands sales and distribution facility, bringing to the fore three local businessmen who are partners in the new venture.

The national brand appears intent on competing with the likes of national giant Corobrick. Brick & Clay have made an aggressive move countrywide.

Msundusi Brick & Clay, based in the Pentrich Road area, boasts the expertise of partners Shayne Knott, Mark Walsh and Gavin Rosslee.

Knott, who is also the sales manager, is upbeat about business prospects, given the fact that the construction sector at large is still growing at a healthy pace.

He noted that the commercial sector is still delivering firm growth, adding that the residential will recover in the future.

Brick & Clay also launched in Durban and Empangeni recently.

The company boasts three factories, based in Nigel, East London and Swaziland.

Msundusi Brick & Clay is able to load 5 000 bricks per truckload at any given time at the local yard.

Knott said that they are able to perform bulk deliveries of 12 000 bricks per load.

The company produces both face-bricks and clay-pavers.

"We saw this as a very good opportunity. The focus of the company is on face-brick products. I have already received inquiries from Newcastle. I am also going to operate in Greytown and Underberg," said Knott.
