Near drowning: Three-year-old in serious state

2009-11-23 00:00

A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy from the Bluff is in a serious but stable condition after he nearly drowned in the swimming pool at his home yesterday. Netcare 911 spokesman Jeff Wicks said that it is believed the boy had been riding a plastic push-bike around the pool when he fell in. “His brother alerted his mother and she rushed to the pool to find the child floundering in the water. Unable to swim, she rushed to get aid and eventually the child was pulled from the water,” said Wicks.

“The family then bundled the boy into a car and took him to hospital. Netcare 911 Paramedics who were dispatched to the scene, intercepted the family not far from their home,” he said.
