Nestlé baby food recall not for South Africa

2011-07-06 00:00

THE recall of baby food in glass jars, produced by Nestlé, has no bearing on South Africa and will not affect the South African market.

This was confirmed by Nestlé yesterday following chains of panicking e-mails and warnings of mothers alerting other mothers through various social networks about the recall.

Nestlé spokesperson Motshidisi Mokwena told The Witness that Nestlé South Africa is aware of the recent voluntary recall of Nestlé baby food.

The recall comes after a customer discovered a piece of glass in one of the jars of P’tit Pot Recette Banana baby food produced by Nestlé France.

“These products are currently not available in South Africa. The voluntary recall was a precautionary measure taken in France and is isolated to France only.

“It has no impact on any Nestlé baby food products manufactured for the South African market,” said Mokwena. — Witness Reporter.
