Netcare 911 warns of job scam

2015-04-24 00:00

NETCARE 911 has issued a warning to the public about a recruitment scam that promises people jobs as paramedics.

According to Martina Nicholson on behalf of Netcare 911, members of the public have been receiving hoax e-mails and SMSes stating that Netcare 911 is in the process of training paramedics.

The scam is taking place countrywide.

“Of particular concern is that the current e-mail asks applicants to e-mail or fax documents of a personal nature, such as matric certificates and driver’s licenses, which opens the door to identity fraud. “Applicants are also asked to make payments to these unscrupulous entities,” said Nicholson.

She said the e-mails do not originate from Netcare 911 and Netcare or any of its subsidiaries, and they would not recruit individuals for emergency services training in this manner.

She urged the public to be vigilant and advised them not to respond to these hoax e-mails.

“People can contact 0860 225 547 if they would like to verify the legitimacy of a job posting and are urged to contact Netcare’s Fraud and Ethics Hotline on 0860 372 831/ should they suspect any irregularities.”
