FORMER South African High Commissioner to the Bahamas, advocate Faith Doreen Radebe, was yesterday sworn in as the country’s new Inspector-General for Intelligence.

Radebe was inducted at a ceremony presided over by Cape Judge President John Hlophe in Parliament in Cape Town during a special sitting of the joint standing committee on Intelligence.

Radebe will be responsible for oversight of the country’s civilian intelligence services, ensuring that their work falls within the framework of the Constitution.

Upon taking the oath of office, Radebe committed herself to working with Parliament and the ministry of State Security in adding value to the work of securing South Africa against any form of threat.
