New clue:Dewani in Cape earler

2010-12-11 00:00

CAPE TOWN — A week before Anni Dewani was murdered in Cape Town, her husband visited the city alone.

Die Burger learnt from a reliable source yesterday that Shrien Prakash Dewani landed at Cape Town International Airport at 11.45 pm on November 6.

The source could not say how long Dewani stayed in the city or when he left the country again.

National police spokesperson Brigadier Sally de Beer declined to comment on the information yesterday. “Any evidence will form part of the police investigation,” she said.

Dewani has been previously quoted as saying he had never been to South Africa before coming on honeymoon with Anni.

The couple celebrated their marriage in Mumbai on October 27, 28 and 29.

Andrew Harrison, manager of the Chitwa Chitwa Lodge in Mpumalanga, said they spent the nights of November 10 and 11 there before leaving on November 12 for Cape Town. Anni was murdered on November 13.
