New lease of life for Maritzburg’s Lifesound

2012-06-20 00:00

AN established Pietermaritzburg business has been re-launched, maintaining a 40-year legacy.

When faced with closure or refocusing their resources on a revitalisation strategy, the key investors decided on a turnaround strategy for hearing care company Lifesound.

Michael Beckley, a management consultant for Lifesound, told The Witness the company decided to invest in turning around the local business, given significant demand for products like hearing aid devices in Pietermaritzburg and Howick.

Beckley said they were faced with either closing the business or implementing a revival.

“We will be investing a lot in the business. We want to focus on taking cutting edge audiology solutions direct to the client …”

Noleen Narainsamy is the new audiologist at the helm. Beckley said she would have an opportunity to become a partner.

“She has a passion for her job and was very successful in a practice in Ermelo until she relocated to Pietermaritzburg.”

Beckley told The Witness: “I am very aware of the legacy of the practice and the shoes I have to fill. It is my intention to provide excellent value and service to the Pietermaritzburg and Midlands community in an ethical, balanced and compassionate manner.”

Lifesound has partnered with several hospitals in Durban and the Midlands as part of its turnaround strategy.

The business first traded as Daniel’s Pharmacy, then as Van Rensburg Hearing Centre under Hennie van Rensburg and later as Janine Pisula Audiology under Janine Pisula.
