New power lines for Hilton

2012-02-28 00:00

WORK has begun on overhauling the electricity supply to Hilton.

Msunduzi Municipality spokesperson Brian Zuma said work began in January.

Municipal workers started clearing bushes and shrubs where a survey would be conducted soon to plot co-ordinates for new electricity lines, he added.

The frequent power outages in Hilton have prompted the provincial government to act.

Hilton residents have been invited to a meeting scheduled to be held at the Hilton Community Hall at 6 pm on Thursday.

Finance MEC Ina Cronjé, the mayors of Msunduzi and Umngeni municipalities will share information and progress about Hilton’s electricity problems.

Cronjé’s spokesperson, Musa Cebisa, said the provincial government and the two municipalities had joined forces to tackle the problem.
