New ubuntu crime fighters in the city

2008-06-06 00:00

Ubuntu Peace Project, an initiative aimed at ending crime and violence, will on Monday evening commemorate the lives of Gill Weedon and Thulas Mngomezulu, who were murdered a day apart in 2006.

The function will be between 6 and 7 pm at the Maritzburg Golf Club. The slogan for the evening is “We can end this crime and violence that is decimating our city and our country”.

On October 26, 2006, Weedon was murdered in the garage of her home. The following day, KZN government official Mngomezulu was stabbed to death in the city centre — just two of the thousands of murdered South Africans.
