Nkandla: ‘ma’ zuma opens new church

2012-06-04 00:00

FIRST lady Sizakele MaKhumalo Zuma yesterday officially received a church which she had requested for the Mamba community in Nkandla two years ago.

The handover ceremony was attended by President Jacob Zuma, the territorial commander of the Salvation Army, Lieutenant-Colonel William Langa, and prominent businessman Patrice Motsepe, who is the executive chairperson of African Rainbow Minerals (ARM), which built the church. MaKhumalo Zuma had approached ARM through the Jacob Zuma Foundation to build the church, the first in the area.

Motsepe said churches had made huge contributions not only to the religious and spiritual growth of the people, but also in education, the provision of skills, the building of clinics and many community upliftment initiatives.
