No trace of missing public prosecutor

2008-05-07 00:00

A public prosecutor based in Hammarsdale went missing last month after he allegedly travelled to Gauteng for an interview.

Xolani Arthur Gama (37) was last seen on Tuesday, April 8.

His friend, Johannes Ngema, said Gama decided to drive to Johannesburg at the last minute.

"He initially told me that his prospective employer would send him plane tickets, but on Tuesday he told me he would be driving to Johannesburg."

Gama was with his girlfriend when he met with Ngema.

Police reported that Gama visited his girlfriend in Sundumbili before leaving for Gauteng.

Ngema told The Witness that Gama’s girlfriend has recently become blind through illness.

"No one knows what he was wearing because he was with his blind partner when he left.

"However, I called her on the Wednesday (April 9) [to tell her that] Gama was supposed to leave and she told me he had left at 2 am," said Ngema.

He said on Thursday (April 10) he phoned Gama’s father in Johannesburg to inquire about his arrival.

"When I called his father I was shocked to find out that he did not arrive."

Gama owns a metallic gold Peugeot (ND 567 380) and he was apparently driving the vehicle. Gama is 1,5 metres tall and weighs 75 kg, he has short black hair.

It is believed that he was wearing a grey and white T-shirt, grey and red pants and a pair of black sandals.

Police are appealing to anyone with positive information regarding Gama’s whereabouts to contact the investigating officer, Captain Khanyile, on 082 411 6625 or 032 454 7800 or Inspector Maphumulo at 082 589 5847.
