Northwood just edge Glenwood on court

2013-10-22 00:00

GLENWOOD met Durban North rivals Northwood on the basketball court last week, the first time this season Glenwood have hosted a fixture.

Glenwood’s U14A and “B” sides started affairs with two entertaining clashes, the “B” side winning by one point and the “A” side losing by three points.

The home side’s U15A outfit had an easier time, winning 20-14 and the seconds notched up the biggest win of the day, running out 57-12 winners.

The best was saved for last when the two first teams locked horns. It was a meeting of Northwood’s experience against Glenwood’s raw talent, many of the latter’s players turning out at this level for the first time.

Both sides gave everything as the match progressed and at the final whistle, Northwood had prevailed 49-46, in an encounter that had supporters from both sides on the edge of their seats.

It was valuable experience for Glenwood and next season’s meeting should be one to savour.
