2012-01-27 00:00

A GROUP of eight men, two women and a juvenile made a brief appearance at the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court, for the murder of an elderly couple they suspected of witchcraft. Simphiwe Dlamini (20), Richard Hlongwa (31), Nothile Hlongwane (21), Linda Khanyile (23), Sibusiso Khanyile (34), Kenny Mchunu (29), Hlanganani Ngidi (26), Sizwe Ngubane (25), a 17-year-old juvenile who may not be named, Fanele Ndlovu (35) and Mduduzi Mpulo (38) from Lindelani are alleged to have been in the forefront of the mob that killed Elsa (60) and Rafael Dubazana (66), whom they had accused of killing their granddaughter. They also burned down their home.

Fourteen were arrested initially, but four were released because there was no evidence linking them to the case. Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said they were all remanded in custody until February 8.
