Officers frantically looking for Cop dog

2014-10-18 00:00

POLICE officers desperate to find their missing K9 comrade, Chaka, pulled out all the stops in their search yesterday.

A helicopter, off-road motorcycles and a foot search failed to locate the missing police Rottweiler, who disappeared into dense bush in the early hours of yesterday morning.

His handler has offered R1 000 out of his salary if anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of his dog.

Captain Neil Thaver, commander of the Shongweni K9 unit, said Chaka had gone missing while chasing housebreaking suspects.

“The suspects were on the riverbank at the back of a factory and Chaka was released as the suspects fled. One man ran into the river, and Chaka jumped in and began swimming after him. He thereafter ran into the bush and has not been seen since.”

If you see Chaka, call SACan duty manager Andreos Mathios at 086 167 2226.
