AFRO Café returns to SABC2 this week at 10 pm on Wednesday.

Hosted by Stoan Seate, member of the successful group Bongo Maffin, Afro Café is more than just a music programme — it blends the best music Africa has to offer with a talk show, artist interviews and up-and-coming musicians.

Now in its eighth season, the show delves deeper into the nooks and crannies of the South African music landscape with the gems of the local music front as our guides, also showcasing South African music legends.

“South African music has grown in leaps and bounds and we as Afro Café are glad to play a part in growing and preserving our home-brewed sounds …” said Lebo Malete, SABC2 publicity spokesperson.

In Wednesday night’s show former presenter Pepsi Pokane and Seate look back and reminisce over their favourite acts and interviews featured from the inception of the show through to the current season. Look out for singers Lira and Thandiswa Mazwai, and performances from the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Hugh Masekela.
