Online entries: Comrades substitution deadline

2013-04-05 00:00

INTRODUCED last year, the Comrades Marathon substitution rule proved a success and is now part of the official race rules.

With entries for this year’s up run on June 2 long past deadline, the rule allows those who missed the official entry period last year the opportunity to lace up their shoes and take on the challenge. Athletes hoping to be on the start line have until April 30 to submit application forms, with no extensions granted on this deadline. How it works is that someone who has already entered the race but either withdraws or intends to withdraw can be substituted by an athlete who missed the entry cut-off last year. Go to to apply.
