Only a few days left to see rock musical

IF you still haven’t booked your seats for Little Shop of Horrors at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre you only have a couple of days left to do so.

KickstArt’s fantastic black-comedy rock musical about a hapless New York florist’s assistant who inadvertently rears an outspoken man-eating alien plant, finishes its run at the UKZN theatre in Durban on April 19.

Directed by Steven Stead, the show stars Bryan Hiles as Seymour, the would-be botanist; the inimitable Lisa Bobbert as his ditzy love interest, Audrey; Aaron MacIlroy as the sadistic dentist, Orin Scrivello (also played by Liam Magner on certain nights); and Peter Court as Mr Mushnik, Seymour’s miserly employer.

The sinister plant, which is a work of genius created by set designer Greg King, is voiced by the supremely talented Tim Wells, and there is some amazing singing from Pume Zondi, Londiwe Dhlomo and Belinda Henwood who form a Supremes-style Greek chorus. Cobus van Heerden and Magner complete the cast playing a variety of crazy cameos.

Shows are at 7.30 pm, Tuesday until Saturday. There is also a 2.30 pm matinée on Saturday and the final show is at 6 pm on Sunday. Booking is at Computicket or buy tickets at the door prior to the performance.
