Opposition youth back PP

YOUTHS from the opposition parties came to the defence of Public Protector Thuli Madonsela yesterday and lashed out at the ANC Youth League for calling for her resignation.

The youth bodies of the IFP, DA and NFP said the interim ANCYL leadership had no grounds to call for Madonsela’s head, instead they should call on President Jacob Zuma to resign.

The interim ANCYL leadership, through its national convenor Mzwandile Masina, said, “Madonsela must finish up with this Nkandla mess then go”.

Masina accused Madonsela of being biased and sensationalist, saying her office was trying hard to “poison the public against the ANC”.

The league also said it would request Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa to investigate the leaking of documents from the Public Protector’s office.

But opposition party youths said Madonsela had done her investigation thoroughly and had been fair in her findings.

NFP Youth Movement secretary-general Maria Tshabalala said their organisation was fed up with the continuous attacks made by the interim ANC Youth League against Madonsela.

“Their focus should be the on their own youth league that they have destroyed in the process of defending the malpractices of state president Jacob Zuma.”

DA Youth leader Mbali Ntuli said the ANCYL has no grounds to call for Madonsela’s resignation because she had done a good job of probing the Nkandla security upgrades.

IFP Youth Brigade Bhekani Gasa said the ANCYL interim leaders were not qualified to call for Madonsela’s resignation because they were not legitimate leaders.
