Oshabeni hopes to have ‘not so nice’ road fixed after council roadshow

2011-03-30 00:00

RESIDENTS of Oshabeni are hoping that the Hibiscus Coast Municipality will fix the road leading to the community hall where the municipality held its council meeting yesterday morning.

The aim of the meeting was to give members of the public a chance to observe its proceedings for the first time, and partake in the council’s hospitality with a meal of takeaway chicken afterwards.

This initiative is set to continue with the aim of strengthening public understanding of how councillors take decisions to serve their residents.

Residents and their inkosi, Lushaba, turned out to watch the councillors and sought explanations about certain service delivery projects.

Inkosi Lushaba said he was pleased with the council meeting being convened at his place.

“I thank the councillors and directors for driving here on this ‘nice’ road. I think they have seen it and will come back and repair it because it was certainly not nice to drive on it.”

During the proceedings, the council resolved that those wishing to take retirement can do so from the age of 55.

They noted that the required age for retirement is 60 years and resolved that this should remain in force along with their new resolution.

The Hibiscus Coast Mayor, Nolwazi Shusha, said he appreciated the turnout by the residents.
