Oslo beach: two teens held for spate of break-ins

2011-10-18 00:00

OSLO Beach residents will be relieved to know that two men have been arrested for the spate of break-ins in the area.

The break-ins took place on Friday night and Saturday morning.

Two burglaries, one attempted housebreaking, three thefts of motor vehicles and two attempted thefts of motor vehicles were reported by late Saturday morning.

“Two men were arrested and stolen property was recovered,” said Port shepstone police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

Police were alerted when a security company received a signal from a client’s property.

The complainant said a man had fallen into the swimming pool while trying to flee.

Student Constable Wallace Daniels managed to arrest a 17-year-old man.

Shortly after the arrest Warrant Officer Clifford Mngadi and Constable Nkosi Mbali were attending to another housebreaking complaint in Kvalsig Road when they spotted another 17-year-old juvenile on the property.

He was also arrested.

“Various items of stolen property were eventually pointed out by the two suspects where they had hidden it amongst bushes,” said Wiid.

The suspects will appear in court on several charges soon.

Wiid said the two suspects have previous convictions for housebreaking.

Vani Pather, chairperson of the Oslo Beach Community Policing forum, declined to comment.
